Probably the first writer that I began buy titles of on a regular basis. Like most little boys, I wanted to be an spaceman when I grew up but as I was British, I had to content myself with merely being a space cadet!

Harrison writes very funny space opera but also has that quality to make you think that you're standing right in the middle of the action as it's happening. The Stainless Steel Rat Books are almost without exception, inventive, exciting and a must for any growing child's imagination though, I would recommend the earlier books first.

For anybody who doesn't like science fiction, just think of it as costume drama with a better budget.
