Probably the proudest moment of my adult life was to attend one of the last UK gigs by Robyn with his band the Egyptians at the Bull & Bush in Kentish Town. Rob & I had discovered that he was to perform a secret gig there so we went along. Unfortunately, the gig was so secret that only about 20 people turned up and to compound this misfortune, the PA broke down leaving the band with no means to play at volume. However, I learned that night that Mr Hitchock and friends were more resilient that most. They simply lugged their equipment off stage and dragged it into a side room where they played a fantastic semi-unplugged set.
The album that was available at the time was 'Respect' and this was no less brilliant than the band's gig. It's another one of those rare albums where there is not a weak song on it. Outstanding tracks include 'Driving Aloud', 'The Moon Inside', 'Wafflehead' and of course 'The Yip Song'. But, hey, don't take my word for it, go and buy it for yourself!!
