Ever wanted be a famous musician? Read this piece of absolute brilliance and think again. It follows the story of a Liverpool base band called The Grams (crap name) and follows them to the very peak of success and excess. The characters and their individual tales are both lucid and frighteningly believable. I have seen at one point or other, most of the character described in this book from coke addled studio juniors to over sexed record executives. I laughed, cried, got angry, became sympathetic and exasperated all within the pages of this exceptional tome. It really is a snapshot of a business that can wring you dry in the name of fame.
