This is my favourite album cover of all time. In my opinion, there is nothing to touch it. I didn't know anything about the band until I bought this album recently. I HAD to own this on vinyl though, the CD just doesn't have the elegance of an original record sleeve. However, finding a LP copy in this day and age took forever (about three years) but finally I managed to track one down. I'd heard 'Shadowplay' years ago which I liked but I felt a little nervous sitting down at the record deck as after all this time lusting after the cover, the contents might prove to be disappointing. I needn't have worried however, Ian Curtis' voice was astounding and the band were utterly brilliant, utterly unique. It seems very shallow to be drawn to a band merely on the strength of an album cover but as a result of such urges, my musical snobbery is now at an all time low. There's no such thing as genre, just good music.
