The most expensive movie ever made in Germany (so far). How do I describe this move in a way that could possibly do it justice? Set in a German U-boat during WWII, it follows the crew of U-96 during a voyage into the convoy lanes of the Atlantic. It illustrates that war is a patchwork of emotions and experiences that should, by all rights, have no business mixing with one another. Deep terror, farting, terrific elation, extreme boredom, superhuman exertion, crossword puzzles, and absolute defeat are thrown together in a film that leaves you profoundly changed after seeing it. Not a girls film (but please prove me wrong).
