First saw this as a young and impressionable teenager and for about three years afterwards I spent a large amount of time worshipping the ground that Rutger Hauer walked upon and fantasing about Sean Young.
If you don't know the plot of this film then YOU have been living on another planet for the past twenty years. Put simply, it involves a near future Los Angeles cop (Harrison Ford) tracking down a rouge bunch of androids that have travelled to Earth in order to infiltrate the company that made them and extend their pitifully short lifespan (four years).
I'm told that the making of this film was not a happy one but maybe that added to the downbeat genius of the story (which is loosely based on the Phillip K. Dick book 'Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep').
For some strange reason it also reminds me of Cassablanca but maybe it's just because of all the tears, rain and fog.
